June 1978. £1512 (1977). This artwork was conceived by the Scottish artist Alan Smith and collectively realised by the board of management of Edinburgh Ceramic Workshop. The briefcase contains £1,512, the remaining funds of the Ceramic Workshop when it closed in 1974. Invested in Treasury Bonds and legally unable to be realised, the value of the fund increases in perpetuity.
