1990. Arthur Watson installation. Venice Biennale.

May 1990. Arthur Watson (left) and Mary Modeen (right) installing Watson's Across the Sea, one part of the exhibition Three Scottish Sculptors (with Kate Whiteford and David Mach) at the 44th Venice Biennale. A series of screenprinted fishermens' jackets mounted on wooden structures. A Scottish Sculpture Trust exhibition selected by Richard Calvocoressi, Richard Demarco and Julian Spalding; commissioner Clare Henry; curators Lynn Sanderson and Angela Wrapson. Related to the status of Glasgow as European City of Culture 1990, Scottish artists were, for the first time, invited to exhibit under a Scottish banner.
